We are unbelievably excited to announce that we’re offering an All Roads North exclusive week at the legendary Zapata Ranch in Colorado this summer, staying in your own private safari-style camp at the heart of this magical ranch.
With the location of the camp becoming part of the Great Sand Dunes National Park next year, it’s not an exaggeration to say it might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The 100,000 acre Zapata Ranch is set in one of the most scenic, ecologically diverse landscapes in the country at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and bordering the largest system of sand dunes in North America.
It’s home to one of the West’s largest herds of wild bison, a resident elk herd, as well as abundant birdlife and native plant species.
The ranch is owned by the Nature Conservancy and managed through a unique partnership with the visionary Ranchlands group. Together, they are pioneering a new vision for sustainable ranching in the 21st Century.
You’ll stay in an extraordinary tented camp on the banks of Sand Creek in the heart of the wild bison pastures, allowing you to step out of your tent directly into the wilderness. In the evening, enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by your camp chef and then relax around a fire while enjoying the night sky, one of the darkest in the world.
Experience an exceptional horseback program on an authentic working ranch that allows you to roam freely with little ‘nose-to-tail’ riding.
There is plenty to do out of the saddle, from hikes to hidden waterfalls and amongst the sand dunes, to fly-fishing and naturalist-led excursions.
Our preference is to book the week as a full camp buyout, offering a truly intimate and private wilderness experience for a group of friends or an extended family. The camp accommodates four couples in four tents, although different combinations are possible.
